LIfe after taxes.

It's been a long time coming, but the taxes are almost finished. We had a near crisis.. i got most of my info together, and was waiting on Carrie's info. We couldn't find all of her stuff - things weren't where she thought they were. After some dilligent searching on my part we found the necessary documents, and we're all good to go.

Of course Carrie gets money back, and I owe a stinky big pile. I do have a few more deductions to put in though.

Yesterday night was fun - met up with a few other performers and had a jam/practice session. It wasn't a huge busy night (only four of us..) but it was quality not quantity of people that mattered. Everyone everyone learned at least one thing and everyone had a a good time. It'll be even better when things get less busy for the rest of the world.

I'm already starting to make plans for Life after taxes. It'll be work on the websites, blogs, writing, and manufacturing props and bits for the show. That and meeting up with an accountant - that is necessary. If I can pay someone $100 to do my taxes then woohoo.. Although I do know how to do all of this, so it's not unreasonable for me to save myself a $100. We'll see what happens - i have a few good leads on accountants.

I'm proud.. but my head hurts.

I'm getting my taxes and the books caught up for my various businesses. This might not seem like much to your regular Joe everyday kind of person but for me (an artist who is inclined to neglect this sort of thing) it's a big deal. Apparently I have the skills to do take care of the books. This will be the last time I file my own taxes.. I've already got a led on a great accountant that can get me set up on a system, and that will do my taxes for free if I abide by her rules. Sounds great to me .

I had a witty revelation that came into my brain whie in the midst of this tax stuff, but it's since drifted on. Damn. It was a good one too...

Having chili for dinner soon.. hmm it smells good.

"Chili only gives you gas if you eat it" (Deep thought by yours truly.)

Meetings, taxes and a black bear.

Yesterday was jam packed with meetings. It's funny how my meetings never run that long. When you keep things to the point and get things done meeting tend to be on the short side.

In between meetings I met up with a gentleman that called me up requesting a personal stilt walking lesson. Originally from Trinidad, Gerry has always wanted to stilt-walk. As such I loaned him a pair of beginner stilts, taught him how to juggle, and an hour later my first private lesson was over. It was pretty fun. Gerry also plays the steel drums, and piano. But the coolest thing in his house was a mounted black bear that he was storing for a friend. Of course it wasn't his - it was his "friends". Managed to snap a picture of the bear with my camera phone (maybe if this blog thing takes off I can get a proper digital camera, or a better camera phone.

Life is sweeet...

(What makes is ssweeter is I'm almost finally done my taxes. Thank God.) Two businesses, and two years - and I even maneged to do them all on my own. Done with the Cowguys, getting there with the agency.

A weekend with a big suprise!

This weekend was very busy - all told it's Monday morning and i'm very tired.

Saturday saw me perform two great shows at the Russell Warriors hockey banquet. The shows were great 2 x 20-30 minute spots for a family crowd. The first crowd was younger 4-8yrs, the second we older 8-13yrs - and I had to treat them as if they were crazy unfed wild pups. The best line in my second show referencing the wildness of the kids was "I'm glad you kids are playing hockey, and not out lighting fires and stuff." I hope that didn't give them any ideas. The fun thing about this gig is that my brother and sister in-law and their two kids live across the street from it. I managed to pop over there for lunch. hang out, and visit a little. Of course Thomas (my 2.5 yr old nephew and his Dad were out doing some shopping, and Katey (the newest addition) was sleeping - so Thomas and Dad arrived as I was heading out to my show. Did some errands after my show on the way home, and came home to the same bunch of family i'd just visited. We had a good time playing with the kids and hangning out, then took a 30 minute breather, and headed over to the next door neighbours for dinner. We left their place (after some great conversation, and a fabulous homemade lasagna) at 11:23pm, I was in bed for 11:30pm. Nice.

The next day was spent working on the basement.. A good day - didnt' look like we got too much done, but we reallly did. Twas a good productive day. And I learned all sorts of stuff about plumbing.

Then we went over to the family's for dinner. The "great aunt" had passed away a few months back, and the stuff was being divied up. I had requested the foam heads and a few wigs (great for costuming.) We found a mysterious package in the bottom of the "head/wig" box, unwrapped it and found a large amount of cash. It was crazy to think that we might not have lept the bag it was all in, donated it to someone, or just thrown it out. Also crazy to think if it had made it home with us.. the shock that would have hit. All told pretty wild..

Wound things down by reading some Dr. Seuss to the little guy on the kitchen floor. One dog, two dog, red dog, blue dog.

Hmmmmm to switch or not to switch

I'm getting a little more comfortable with blogger - starting to like it and realizing that it's going to do what i want it too. I'm not crazy about the layout.. but it is about 10 times better than my previous blog program diary-x. I wonder if there's a way to import the hundreds of entries from there to here. Hmm i bet there is.. just have to look. That wasn't a blog entry - just me pontificating outloud and wasting precious hard drive/ sever space somewhere. lalallalal watch me go!
